Bowel cancer doesn't discriminate based on age; everyone is at risk, but the risk increases with age, especially from age 50 onward. In Australia alone, more than 15,300 people were diagnosed with Bowel cancer in 2023, with an average age at diagnosis of 69 years old. It's the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in the country, and shockingly, one in 20 people will face a Bowel cancer diagnosis by the time they reach 85.

About 90% of Bowel cancers are adenocarcinomas, starting in the glandular tissues lining the bowel. This highlights the importance of early detection and regular health check-ups. It's crucial to listen to your body because being young doesn't make you immune to Bowel cancer. Around 1 in 9 Australians diagnosed with Bowel cancer are under 50, emphasizing the need for awareness and proactive health measures.

Bowel cancer is the deadliest cancer and the sixth leading cause of death overall for Australians aged 25-44. Shockingly, 1,716 Australians under 50 are diagnosed with Bowel cancer each year, and tragically, 315 people under 50 lose their lives to this disease annually.
