In honour of my Mum - Karen Fletcher

Karen was a clean living country Mum of two young adults - she had never smoked or consumed alcohol. 
Literally sudden abdominal pains (no bleeding, previous pain, changes in bowel habits etc)  led  Mum to being diagnosed with bowel cancer which had metastasised. 
I was starting 2nd year Nursing at Aquinas -  January 1994. This was a grim time between surgeries, radiation in Geelong daily for 5 weeks and then chemotherapy of various types and cycles for the following 5 years. 
Poor Mum! 
We all put up a big fight, but no more than Mum for a total of  6 years - until Friday 4th February, 2000 when she could fight no longer. 
Our life has changed forever since that original diagnosis. 
Those of us in Theatre - all see surgeries so often with similar outcomes or others that have been touched personally with a similar situation. 
I appreciate you reading this and may I convince you to share some money to this fundraising cause led by the Cancer  Council of Australia.
