Who are you giving your information to?
Your Personal Information is being or has been collected by a Cancer Council entity, as described below:
- If you reside in the same State or Territory as the fundraising activity, the Cancer Council entity in the State or Territory where the activity is taking place collects your information.
- If you are supporting someone who is fundraising in a different State or Territory to where you reside, the Cancer Council entity in the State or Territory where the activity is taking place collects your information.
- If you are donating directly to Cancer Council, the Cancer Council entity in your State or Territory of residence collects your information.
In this Collection Statement, the State and Territory Cancer Council entities described above are referred to as the “Local Cancer Council”, and are listed at the end of this notice.
Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW), which is the Cancer Council entity that manages and facilitates national Cancer Council fundraising campaigns on behalf of the Local Cancer Councils, also collects your Personal Information as part of its role in these national campaigns.
For the purpose of this notice, "we", "us", or "ours" means each Cancer Council which collects your Personal Information.
Some examples of our national fundraising campaigns are:
- Australia's Biggest Morning Tea;
- Daffodil Day;
- The Longest Day;
- Relay for Life; and
- Do it for Cancer.
Why are we collecting your information?
We collect your Personal Information to enable your participation in, or support of, Cancer Council fundraising activities; to facilitate the provision of services or products which have been requested by you; to keep you informed about our related activities; and/or for purposes otherwise set out in our Privacy Policy (which is available at the hyperlinks at the end of this notice).
We may also send you information about programs, products, services, fundraising or other activities which we think may interest you.
What happens if we do not receive your information?
If you choose not to give us the Personal Information we request from you, we may not be able to provide services or products to you, or keep you updated about our fundraising activities.
Who do we share your information with?
Your Personal Information may be provided to Cancer Council Australia and any of the Local Cancer Councils in our network.
Further, we may disclose your Personal Information to third parties who provide us with services or perform services on our behalf, including information and web-based technology service providers, cloud-based storage services, marketing and communication agencies, social media platforms, billing services, survey platforms, document signing platforms, database contractors, printers, support services and warehousing and fulfilment agencies, or where we are required or permitted to disclose your Personal Information by law. If we share your Personal Information with others, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that they deal with Personal Information appropriately.
Will my information be disclosed overseas?
In some circumstances, your Personal Information may be disclosed to overseas recipients, including to recipients located in the USA, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Israel, Colombia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Romania, India and the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the overseas third party deals with your Personal Information appropriately and in accordance with Australian privacy laws.
