We’ve had our Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea!
Friday 14 June saw us at arguably the Townsville City Council’s premierCommunity Centre, on the banks of the Ross River.
82 guests women and men, who enjoyed home cooked goodies and tea and coffee, participated in the cent sale, minor raffle even did a Tea-rivia questionaire and generally chatted away the morning.
Councillor Suzy Batkovic was a welcome(and regular) guest, Tegan Marsden from the Cancer Council mingled and gave us great insight into services provided by the Cancer Council in Townsville. She also drew the winning ticket in the Quilt Raffle; designed and materials provided by Debbie, and hand and machine sewn by Mysterton craft girls. it was won by a delighted Julie Cole of Mackay! And delivered to her Townsville friend who was also very pleased.
Of course the event would not be possible without the efforts of the whole Mysterton Craft Goup girls and the extra volunteers like Julie Burnett, Alicia van Ruth, Annemarie, Fiona and our Australian Army Sarah (stationed in Townsville)… thankyou!
Of course there are also the ..set up tables, chairs and pack up, load cars General dogsbodies…thanks guys!
All in all from previous raffle sales at shopping centres, markets, personal connections and the day, we raised $6648 for the Cancer Council!( banked but yet to be updated on the page, but I’ll put this up again when it is!)
Thank-you to all involved, guest, worker, sewer, cook, furniture removalist, driver, waiter, washer-upper, sipper, donor, whatever… it all counts in the fight to research, treat and cure cancer!
